Thinking of Boracay & Happy Birthday!

Book a treatment and get a tree!

Attentive readers might know that Boracay was on my long bucket list of must-see places (or spa resorts).

My dream came true three weeks ago when me and my mum decided to have our annual "mother-daughter-wellness-retreat" on the little island off the Sibuyan sea.

Yoga is a dance within

A new month and new beginnings! I'm so happy that I finally found some time to share some big news with you: I recently took a leap of faith and signed up for a (life-changing I'm sure) 200-hour yoga teacher training.

August Break Photo Challenge - Days 27 to 31

The final days of summer are here - this also means the end of Susannah Conway's August Break Photo Challenge. I really enjoyed the daily themes and sometimes I even surprised myself with certain ideas I came up with or the things that I suddenly saw in a different light.

My favorite things for blissful living

It's Friday. It's summer. The sun is shining - what's not to love?

I'll keep this post really short and sweet as I can't wait to grab my bikini and head to the pool. So here are my 5 things for blissful living this week:

Spoil your sun-kissed skin: DIY Tropical Body Mist

DIY Tropical Body Mist

Oh sweet summer! It's my favorite time of the year. I often say that I was born in the wrong country as I dread the cold and love the heat. This is perhaps one of the reasons why I moved to Hong Kong. And although our beaches here are far from being as beautiful as the ones in Thailand or Bali, there are some hidden gems that invite you to swim, paddle board, surf or just chill by the sea.

Yoga and Self-discipline

Too often we can have the best intentions and plans but still don't commit to our daily yoga practice. I've been struggling with this for quite some time.

I'd create weekly schedules where I mixed restorative classes with some more challenging Vinyasa classes at different times of the day to make it as easy as possible for me to roll out the mat. And yet I'd still find too many (lame) excuses not to commit to it.

Key to earthly pursuits

"What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes? Herein lies the key to your earthly pursuits." Carl Jung

Are you journaling? If not - you miss out on your greatest self-reflection journey! I recently started writing a daily journal again and I'm so surprised and amazed how many creative, inspiring and guiding thoughts keep coming up.

Start your journaling journey by asking yourself powerful questions like the one above or jot down notes after reading and watching inspiring stuff. It really does wonders to your mind & soul.

Here are my favorite finds to enchant you this week:

Awaken your root chakra in 6 easy steps

Ah, the root chakra - when the base is not balanced, mind and body feel just...well...meh...

Lately, far too many thoughts and ideas are stuck in my head without ever being materialized and I tend to procrastinate far more than usual. Sounds familiar?

Well, if you can relate to one of the following:

- Juggling five different to-do lists
- Multi-tasking your way through the day but never actually finishing one single project
- Having panic attacks when deadlines are close
- Feeling insecure or not sure which path to take

...then it's definitely time to awaken your root chakra!

Tea & Talk: Beauty secrets from Annie Fung (my birthday gift)

Spa expert Annie Fung

So today is my birthday. It's funny: since I turned 30 two years ago, I kind of stopped counting the digit after the big 3 and on each birthday I have to ask my hubby how old I am.

His reply always surprises me. Seriously! In my mind I'm still 24 years old

I don't know why it's particularly 24, but I think it's because it sounds nice and on some days I catch myself behaving accordingly. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. But, hey, one needs to embrace the inner child, right?

Print Pattern
So, how was your last week of April? I'm so excited that finally the sweet and merry month of May is here - you must know that May is my birthday month. And usually the weather god treats us quite well here in Hong Kong (sparing us from the dreaded rain) which means I'm already planning for various beach and bikini shopping activities!

Beach walk in Mosman / Cheese indulgence in Hunter Valley / Tea tasting at T2

I almost fainted when I saw the date of my last entry. It seems like time slips through my fingers. 'So much to do in so little time' the saying goes, right? But I'm well aware that this is just a lousy excuse. I do hope that you've already forgiven my little break from blogging.

Six Senses Resorts and Spas Con Dao
Six Senses Con Dao

Next up on my bucket list of must-visit spa destinations is Vietnam. While there are many well-known spa resorts located around Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, I'm particularly interested in a little island called Con Dao. Never heard before? Yeah, me neither until I stumbled upon a travel magazine article that raves about its untouched beauty and lush tropical mangroves.

Yesterday these lyrics by the Rolling Stones popped up in my head and I sort of started meditating over it ever since. Do you get what you need instead of what you want right now? Think about it - once you embark on a journey of self-reflection you might just find new horizons opening up for you!

Como Shambhala Bali
Como Shambhala Bali Estate

A little island that has been on my bucket list for many years now is Bali. Search for yoga & wellness retreats on the internet and you'll get at least 20 entries for this "heaven on earth" as yogis, surfers, hippies and world travelers call it. And it's such a shame I've never been there given how close I am (in a geographical and philosophical sense). Despite my meditational efforts, I often become jealous whenever friends or family brag about traveling there, participating in a cleansing yoga retreat, fun surf camp or re-enerizing spirit festival.

My current objects of bliss...

My favorite objects for blissful living this week are inspired by a recent hike with my friends - it was a rainy, cold and grey Saturday yet we were quite determined to head out and explore a rather unknown little island in Hong Kong. Our little excursion came to an end only after two hours when even my über active dog Lizzie decided it was a much better idea to return home, have some tea & biscuits and just relax instead:

Spa Facts Boracay
Shangri-La's Boracay Resort & Spa

I'm excited to present the first hotel spa on my bucket list, located on the secluded island of Boracay, Philippines, which is only a short flight away from bustling Hong Kong. My mum's round birthday is coming up and naturally I want to treat her to something special. Once she saw the breathtaking photos of this five star hotel with its white sandy beaches and tree houses with outdoor jacuzzis she was hooked - and so was I.

Sushi, Wine & DIY...

This is so cute, I simply have to share it with you guys. My friends and obviously biggest fans in Vienna organized a girls get together for a fun night with yummy sushi, white wine and DIY aromatherapy recipes....from my blog!

I told them to take pics for me so I can see them indulging and blending. Oh how I wish I could've been there - now I'm really home-sick!

The girls followed my shower gel, body scrub, cellulite and pillow oil recipes. I'm excited to learn how they turned out for them:

Wanderlust. While many friends spent their Chinese New Year holidays in a beautiful, warm spot somewhere in Asia, we just had a lazy stay-cation. In order to not get utterly depressed about this, I self-medicated with a pile of travel, spa and yoga magazines. With the result that I now have a long bucket list of places & spaces I need to visit - aka my "100 must-see spas before I die".

If you are in the midst of planning your next holiday, get ready for this. In the coming weeks, I'll take you on a virtual journey to some of the most beautiful and exquisite spa retreats across Asia. My mission: To leave you feeling intense wanderlust!

Holistic Detox Week 4

My post about the last and final holistic detox week is way overdue so I simply blame it on the sugar rush I got from indulging in this yummy and beautifully decorated cupcake last weekend. But it seems that last week went by so quickly. I had the same dishes all over again (but it didn't feel boring) and my yoga, aromatherapy and motivation rituals became a routine.

Current Objects of Bliss

Pineapple-Kiwi-Apple Smoothie

How to start your work week energized, refreshed, nourished and healthy? That's right - with a power smoothie! I'm a total sucker for smoothies of all kinds (yep, I also like those green ones with spinach). Usually I have one of those yummy vitamin drinks every day but unfortunately - no surprise there - they are off the menu during my holistic detox too. That's why I really look forward to the "After-Detox-Phase" where you slowly re-introduce other treats foods to your body within 7 days. Of course I would like to start off my day with something healthy yet delicious.

On my BYW-course I met the lovely Viola who not only writes about the beautiful things in life and family, but also posts many yummy recipes on her great blog "Kikabu". So she is the right person when it comes to writing about power smoothies. And today she shares her recipe:

If I had to sum up my last week in one single word it would have to be "ease". Yep, I can admit freely that I'm feeling just awesome at the moment. And light-hearted. Full of joie de vivre.

DIY Home Cellulite Treatment
{Photo Credits: Juniper Berry, Fennel Sweet, Grapefruit, Jojoba}

Girls, how much have we already spent on various cremes to treat cellulite? Right - for that money one can almost go on a long spa weekend getaway!

After all, we can mix our own effective massage oil for a home cellulite treatment.

Only 23 days to go...

Holistic Detox Week 1
Today is already day 8 of my holistic detox which means more than 10% - as my dear friend has pointed out - are now accomplished! Quite honestly, the first days were not the easiest ones: I suffered massively from coffee deprivation, had digestive problems and one afternoon I even dreamed of freshly baked dark bread with butter and a glass of milk. Well, by now I'm able to see the first signs of positive change: I'm no longer tired when getting up in the early morning; my skin is less dry and my energy levels have drastically increased.

Why doing this detox anyway?

Well, my holidays are finally over, the jet lag conquered, and hundreds of emails dealt with – yay, time for my first blog post in 2013!

The New Year rings in with a big challenge for me. Actually there are two. Since November I’ve been flirting with various Paleo sites that try to convince me to eat clean over a specific time period. There are also many blogs that encourage me to spend at least 30 minutes a day on the mat doing yoga and meditation. So far, my dairy addiction and tiredness laziness in the morning prevented me from going ahead.
